The University Opera Theater is a premier ensemble
at the University of Arkansas, made up of upper classmen and community
singers. The University Opera Theater presents a scenes program
each fall semester, and in the spring a major production that features
the Opera Chorus, Concert Choir, or the North Arkansas Children's
Chorus. The Opera Theater prides itself on use of non-traditional
venue, having staged productions at the Dickson Street Theater and St.
Paul's Church. It has presented two Arkansas premiers:
Britten's Turn of the Screw,
and Poulenc's La Voix Humaine.
It is open by audition and permission of the Artistic Director.
The ASG group that supports Opera is the University Friends of Opera.
Membership in this group is open to any student with an interest in
Opera. Sound Clips of recent performances can be heard at UA
Friends of Opera website.
