The Department of
Music offers scholarships to deserving students in music. These awards are based on musical ability and are renewable for up to
four years. Winning a music scholarship does not prevent a student from
accepting financial aid from the University as well. For information on scholarships awarded outside the Department of Music, such as the Freshman Academic Scholarship and Pell Grants, please visit the University of Arkansas Office of Academic Scholarships page.
High school seniors, college transfer students and current
University of Arkansas students who plan to pursue full time studies in
the Department of Music leading to a degree in music are eligible to
apply for a scholarship. Students not majoring in music may still be eligible for a scholarship for ensemble participation.
Scholarships in various amounts are awarded by the department on the basis of talent, musicianship, academic record and recommendations from previous teachers.
Applicants for a Department of Music Scholarship need to complete the Application for Prospective Majors and Non-majors, accessible on the Department of Music Undergraduate Admissions page.
All scholarship candidates must perform an audition for their application to be complete. Students who plan to pursue a degree as a Music Major need only complete one application and audition for both admission and scholarship consideration. Please see the audition requirements on the Department of Music Undergraduate Admissions page or the Department of Music Graduate Student Admissions page if you will be a graduate student.
